Home Free
The title has two different meanings. America is our Home and many people gave their lives to make it Free. The second meaning is about getting back to the States after a long deployment, or in my case, a seven month Wes-PAC tour. You are Home Free! (get it!). This song I dedicate to all our servicemen and women. And also to the people who gave their lives, and their families. Thank you for all you do and the sacrifices you make to keep us safe and free. (Home Free).
There is a line in my song, "my kids raise alot of hell". I hope this doesn't offend anyone. You see, I was raised with four brothers. And my Mother, ( may she rest in peace!), was a fiery redhead. And a very tough Father who we all loved very much, who beat our buts if we, well, raised too much hell! Another line," but we have to stand up and fight ", does not refer to violence. I am talking about force. It is our God given right to use as much force necessary to prevent anyone from doing violence to our families or our Country. And self defense can include deadly force, but in my opinion, the most powerful force comes from prayer. Now, more than ever before, people need to be generous. Not only with your money, but with your time. Don't isolate yourselves from people. Know your neighbors and and ask people if they are doing alright, or if they need anything! The line towards the end of the song " he's forever free, that's what they'll write on my stone ". This line is about my own personal beliefs. I can't speak for anyone else. That is between you and your Creator. The spiritual beliefs I hold, no one can take away. I could lose every worldly freedom I have, but still die a free man! And if the USS Long Beach is still in commission, hello to all the men working in ( CIC ), the eyes of the ship!
